Anxiety Treatment Options at Tranceform Psychology Wolverhampton
The Anxiety treatment offered here at Tranceform Psychology in Wombourne will normally involve following a programme of one of our evidence-based interventions which are specifically designed to help you make fundamental changes to your unhelpful thinking styles, habitual responses or other behavioural traits associated with anxiety or anxiety-related issues.
Beliefs, Rules for Living & Behaviours
The anxiety ‘response’ is a perfectly normal (and logical) way of preparing the body to cope with danger or the threat of danger. In this sense, Anxiety in itself is rarely problematic. It becomes a problem when the trigger situation is a ‘distorted’ belief – for example; ‘being thought of negatively by other people’ is ‘really bad’ and therefore dangerous and therefore ’causes’ the feeling of anxiety.
In this case it should be clear that it is not anxiety that is the actual problem, but the ‘belief’ that negative judgement is somehow ‘bad’.
A more useful model for thinking about psychological problems such as ‘anxiety’ is shown below. Here we can see that ‘Actions’ (what we actually do – or how we behave, in our example ‘feel anxious’) are dictated by the underlying set of ‘strategies’ that are called ‘rules for living’. These rules for living, in turn, are determined by the more fundamental underlying ‘core beliefs & values’.
This model suggests that the most effective way of overcoming anxiety disorders is by changing the core underlying beliefs and values that create the rules and behaviours associated with the problem. In this way, the problem is dealt with using a cause & effect philosophy.
Anxiety Treatment Options
We are able to offer five main Anxiety treatment options, each using a slightly different approach, but all designed to work down to the core beliefs that often ‘prop-up’ the problem!
- CBT for Anxiety
- Counselling for Anxiety
- BWRT for Anxiety
- EMDR for Anxiety
- Analytical Therapy for Anxiety
Each different Anxiety treatment approach uses a distinct philosophical framework which is often tailored to the individual who is consulting with the problem rather than one approach being any ‘better’ than the other.

CBT is a proven, evidence-based form of therapy for developing a fundamental level of understanding into the dynamics of your problem, but also for learning new coping skills and strategies for sustainable change over your life.
Tranceformental CBT is available On-line as well as a one-to-one format in the clinic.
