Why Hypnotherapy for Acrophobia?

Hypnotherapy for Acrophobia related problems has become more and more popular over the last 20 years as people become reluctant to take medications that are prescribed to them. There also continues to be a growth in the interest of complementary therapies, such as hypnotherapy for Acrophobia as confidence in the psychiatric models of ‘illness’ (what they describe as disorders) continues to attract criticism, not least from the psychological sector which considers problems like Acrophobia to be ‘normal life-course emotions’.

Today, hypnotherapy is supported by scientific evidence that shows how helpful this complementary therapy can be and hypnotherapy for Acrophobia is no exception.

However, Hypnotherapy for Acrophobia is NOT a ‘magical cure’ and cannot help your problem without you being fully engaged in the process and also having a high willingness to help yourself. In this respect, Hypnotherapy for Acrophobia is a ‘treatment’ that helps YOU to help YOURSELF rather than being the solution to the problem itself.

Hypnosis is very relaxing and provides a high degree of self-insight, most people find that just being able to relax more is a significant part of getting better. The more relaxed you become, the easier you will find it to solve your Acrophobia problems.

What Happens in the Hypnotherapy Sessions?

Hypnotherapy for Acrophobia normally involves a number of sessions which are held weekly. We suggest that most people will get the best results from a course of sessions, the number of which will depend on how long you have had your specific problem.

If your Acrophobia problems are only relatively recent, then 3 or 4 sessions of hypnotherapy for Acrophobia may be all you need. On the other hand if you have been living with this problem for many years, you are more likely to need a greater number of sessions in order to break the ‘habitual’ element.

The process of hypnotherapy we use in the clinic involves you sitting comfortably in one of our therapy chairs whilst you listen to Joan’s voice. She will discuss with you the specific situations or the triggers that lead to your Acrophobia problems. This will allow her to develop the most appropriate metaphors and suggestions to help you to deal with any negative feelings and to help you cope with the symptoms more effectively.

Over the course of the hypnotherapy for Acrophobia sessions you will explore previous experiences that may have led to negative feelings and you will learn to develop a range of coping mechanisms.

At Tranceform Psychology Joan uses an audio system called the “Hypno-Com” which allows her to talk to you through a headphone and microphone system whilst blending relaxing music into the background. The Hypno-Com system helps to create a highly effective therapeutic environment that assists the treatment.

How Many Sessions of Hypnotherapy for Acrophobia will I Need?

Whilst it’s impossible to be prescriptive about the number of sessions required, people often find that 6 to 12 sessions of hypnotherapy for Acrophobia leads to feeling much more in control of your Acrophobia.

Hypnotherapy is available on a session-by-session basis and we also offer a range of pre-paid courses saving money over single session prices. View our fees pages for more information.
