The Fear of Flying treatment offered here at Tranceform Psychology involves following a programme of one of our evidence-based interventions which are specifically designed to help you make fundamental changes to your unhelpful thinking styles, habitual responses or other behavioural traits that are triggered by exposure to your phobic situation.

As all phobias, including the Fear of Flying, are based upon irrational ‘ideation’ (thoughts and ideas that are not based on ‘facts’) this usually means that the most effective solutions involve examining the core, underlying beliefs that you hold about the phobic situation and then using a specific approach to help you permanently change those core beliefs.

Our response to phobic situations (our ‘behaviours‘) are, to one extent or another, automatic and dictated by our ‘rules for living‘ which, in turn, are based upon our ‘core beliefs‘. This is why working on our core beliefs can result in long lasting and fundamental change to our experiences.

We offer two main approaches to overcoming the Fear of Flying:

Each different Fear of Flying treatment approach uses a distinct philosophical framework which is often tailored to the individual who is consulting with the problem rather than one approach being any ‘better’ than the other.

If you’re committed to overcoming your fear of flying then we highly recommend following our Advanced Tranceformental CBT programme with Paul. Tranceformental CBT is available as Online Therapy if required.

Alternative Therapy Options for the Fear of Flying

Although our preferred form of mental health counselling for the fear of flying is Tranceformental CBT we also offer alternative psychotherapies for those who might prefer a different approach.

These include:

  • Psychodynamic therapy which focuses more on emotional problems and relies on the Therapeutic Relationship to bring about change. Available with Paul.
  • General Counselling which is less structured but still provides a safe and non-judgmental environment to discuss issues which is therapeutic in its own right.
  • Hypnotherapy is an alternative form of therapy that can be applied to a very wide range of problems and is available with Joan.

Free Initial Consultations for the Fear of Flying

We offer all prospective clients an initial consultation to discuss your aviophobia-related mental health problems prior to commencing any counselling.

The consultation is free and lasts around 50 minutes.

During this consultation we will discuss the various types of psychological therapy that are available to you and make a considered recommendation based on your individual personal circumstances.

Initial consultations are also available as part of our online counselling service.

At Tranceform Psychology we emphasise the importance of the therapy relationship in helping people to bring about effective change, so its important to be able to ‘meet’ to discuss our change programmes BEFORE proceeding.

Our policy is to help people make a fully balanced & considered decision about undertaking mental health work with us, including both the financial and personal implications.

For most mental health problems we recommend following our 10 session Tranceformental CBT Programme (an advanced version of empirically established cognitive behavioural therapy) to overcome a wide range of mental health and behavioural problems.

CBT is a proven, evidence-based form of mental health counselling for developing a fundamental understanding of the dynamics of your problem, but also for learning new coping skills and strategies for sustainable change over your life.
