Cognitive Reconstruction Therapy (CRT)
Cognitive Reconstruction Therapy is a form of psychotherapy based on the combined principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Self-Determination Theory and Social Constructivism.
It differs from conventional CBT in the way that it recognises the role played by the client within the therapy process (unlike CBT which regards the client as a passive recipient of scientific CBT principles) as well as taking into consideration how socio-cultural knowledge and understandings ‘impose’ limiting or restricting beliefs upon individuals that directly contribute to mental distress!
What Type of Problems Can it Be Used For?
CRT is suitable for ANY problem that can be classified as psychological in nature, including:

What’s Involved?
The process itself takes place over 10, one hour sessions, once per week.
Each session is built around an online course module which the client studies prior to attending each week.
Each module describes and explains key psychological concepts related to mental health issues as well as outlining practical tools and techniques designed to bring about fundamental changes to the thoughts and behaviours directly related to the clients problems.
In this way, the course plots a ‘structured pathway’ towards understanding and changing the underlying beliefs and values that may be supporting the presenting problems.
How Do I Undertake This Course of Therapy?
You can take follow the Cognitive Reconstruction Therapy course with Paul in the clinic (10 one hour sessions over 10 weeks) and you can also buy the course as a self-managed course that you follow in your own time without any face-to-face time.
