Stress Management Training
Stress Management Training in Wolverhampton & West Midlands
The Thriving at Work stress management training course is a specially adapted version of the Tranceformental CBT protocol specifically for Executives, Managers and Supervisors within the workplace. It is a 100% evidence-based scientific training programme that is designed to help people cope more effectively with the levels of Stress that are the direct result of workplace demands.
Work Related Stress is fast becoming the most significant obstacle to maximum workforce utilisation and is set to grow to almost epidemic proportions during the next decade.
Furthermore, workplace stress that is not sufficiently well managed (by either the employers or the employees) is a KNOWN pre-cursor to the development of more significant mental health problems, including Anxiety and Depression both of which can result in significant lost-time at work.
The World Health Organisation state that:
As health is not merely the absence of disease or infirmity but a positive state of complete physical, mental and social well-being (WHO, 1986), a healthy working environment is one in which there is not only an absence of harmful conditions but an abundance of health-promoting ones.
What this means is that whilst businesses may (understandably) focus a lot of effort on introducing measures to mitigate the effects of harmful factors and practices in the work place, true health and well being is more accurately measured by the range of health-promoting functions and activities in ADDITION to minimising harm.
The Thriving at Work stress management programme deals with this dichotomy by not only focusing on increasing personal tolerance levels for stress, but by also providing a range of easy to use tools and techniques that are designed to positively improve a persons sense of self-efficacy as well!
Stress is Ubiquitous in Contemporary Workplaces
TranceForm Psychology see little value in trying to steer CEO’s and business leaders down the road of ‘reducing demands’ in their business because it is almost certain that their customers and the market are only ever going to become MORE demanding.
We believe that a more useful and pragmatic approach is to help members of the workforce to develop self-empowering paradigms and mental resources in order to be able to cope more effectively with the level of business demands they experience.
This does not mean, of course, that a business should not pay any attention to the way it’s managers communicate and deploy those demands (we do not advocate allowing ‘bullying’ for example) but that by helping people to respond to stressful situations in a more resilient way that the level of demands within the business are likely to have less ‘damaging’ effects on those whose jobs involve fulfilling those roles.
For this reason we have developed the Thriving at Work stress management programme.
The stress management programme focuses on helping people to identify and understand their own specific limiting beliefs and perceptual models so that, given the appropriate tools and techniques for change, they can go on to tolerate more demanding environments without any psychological harm.
Everybody Responds to Stress According to Their Internal Models
Stress, in itself, is not actually harmful, indeed, it is a necessary requirement that drives action. The actual problem with Stress is that each and every one of us has our own internal ‘limit’ for stress tolerance beyond which we start to ‘come -undone’ and suffer the effects of ‘too much stress’.
By following the Thriving at Work stress management programme with Tranceform we can help individuals (and teams) to ‘re-engineer’ their stress limits allowing a greater level of ‘exposure’ prior to ‘breaking-point’. This is achieved by considering all of the implicit human factors that ‘determine’ each individuals coping level.
Most people will recognise that certain other members of staff seem to ‘thrive’ on levels of stress that seem intolerable to others. Clearly this cannot be anything to do with the levels of demand itself, and therefore by definition must be due to the way that those demands are processed and perceived by the person in question!
The Stress Management Programme
Because of the highly personalised and individual nature of any one persons ‘limiting beliefs’ the Programme is currently delivered as a one-to-one programme at our offices in Wombourne.
However, we do offer, as a starting point, a Confidential 2-3 hour presentation to your business team (either at your facility or at an off-site location) that discusses the benefits of the programme including:
- What Actually is Stress?
- What is Work Related Stress?
- What Are the Outcomes of NOT Managing Stress?
- Why Do Some People Seem Unaffected by Stress?
- Resilience
- 3 Core Limiting Beliefs
- Practical Advice and Actions for improving resilience
Referrals & Employee Assistance Programmes
Your staff can participate on this programme in a number of ways, by one-off referrals (at £799 per employee) or as a part of our Healthy Minds Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).

Our Thriving at Work programme not only teaches people how to COPE more effectively with stress, but also provides a wide ranging set of tools and techniques that significantly enhance individual performance in all cognitive processing domains, including things such as decision making, ability to delegate, firm but empathetic management styles, improved self-esteem and self-efficacy and so on.
