All About Sexual Problems & How To Overcome them with CBT, Therapy & Counselling in Wolverhampton & West Midlands

What are Sexual Problems?
Sexual Problems are much more common than people think and can crop up at any time, and at any age.
Nearly all of us, at some point in our lives are likely to experience sexual problems of one sort or another.
They can be very difficult to talk to somebody about, so we would like to assure you that we will deal with you with respect and understanding.
As our sex life is such a “personal” and integral part of our lives we can often feel too embarrassed to seek help, instead suffering needlessly and letting it affect our self esteem and also those closest to us.

Sexual problems are experienced in fairly equal proportions by both Men and Women, although men tend to deny the existence of the problem and are much less likely to consult for professional help.
Due to the very personal nature of our sex lives, sexual problems that are not dealt with can lead to very powerful feelings of inadequacy, shame and low self esteem.
These feelings NEVER make the problem better or more manageable; in fact, they act in such a way as to further increase the problem creating a vicious circle.
It is important to recognise that one person’s pleasure is another person’s perversion, there are no hard and fast rules about what is acceptable or unacceptable (We are obviously not talking about such things as Paedophilia here as they are clearly illegal preferences) so do not simply assume that your particular issue is beyond help or beyond understanding.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Sexual Problems
If you’re committed to overcoming your Sexual Problems problems then we highly recommend following our Advanced Tranceformental CBT programme with Paul which is available as an Online Therapy as well as a self-directed programme.
The Tranceformental programme is a highly successful & pragmatic psychotherapy course, run over 10 sessions, that will teach you everything you need to know to understand your problem, identify how unhelpful thinking and limiting beliefs might be reinforcing the issue, and then show you how to make any changes to your unhelpful thinking styles or maladaptive safety behaviours that you may have developed as part of your coping strategies.
Our Tranceformental CBT programme is an empirically supported approach used by mental health practitioners around the World.

Alternative Therapy Options for Sexual Problems
Although our preferred form of psychotherapy for Sexual Problems is Tranceformental CBT we also offer alternative psychotherapies for those who might prefer a different approach.
These include:
Psychodynamic therapy which focuses more on emotional problems and relies on the Therapeutic Relationship to bring about change. Available with Paul.
General Counselling which is less structured but still provides a safe and non-judgmental environment to discuss issues which is therapeutic in its own right.
Hypnotherapy is an alternative form of therapy that can be applied to a very wide range of problems and is available with Joan.

Free Initial Consultations
We offer all prospective clients an initial consultation to discuss your Sexual Problems prior to commencing any treatment plans.
The consultation is free and lasts around 50 minutes.
During this consultation we will discuss the various options that are available to you and make a considered recommendation based on your individual personal circumstances.
Initial consultations are also available as part of our online therapy service.
At TranceForm Psychology we recognise the importance of the therapeutic relationship in helping people to bring about effective change, so its important to be able to ‘meet’ to discuss our change programmes BEFORE proceeding.
